Higher Education in Wyoming

Important Counting Note: Wyoming's higher-education system can appear differently in older directories because institutional structures and classifications have changed over time. The Wyoming Community College Commission currently identifies eight community colleges. Public University – University of Wyoming

The University of Wyoming is Wyoming's only four-year public university. Located in Laramie, UW is the state's land-grant university and a Carnegie Research 1 institution. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, professional, and online programs.

Private Colleges & Universities

Wyoming's private higher-education sector is much smaller than those of many larger states. Wyoming Catholic College is a private four-year college located in Lander. The college provides a liberal-arts education with discussion-based classes, outdoor education, wilderness exploration, and a Catholic educational tradition.

University of Wyoming at Casper

In addition to its main campus in Laramie, the University of Wyoming operates UW at Casper in partnership with Casper College. UW at Casper provides University of Wyoming programs and services in central Wyoming while maintaining a close connection with the Casper community.
