📌 Important Note About the List

The Nevada System of Higher Education currently consists of eight public institutions: two doctoral-granting research universities, one state university, four comprehensive community colleges, and one environmental research institute.

Desert Research Institute is included separately because it is a public research institute rather than a conventional college or university.

Nevada State University is the current name of the institution formerly known as Nevada State College.

Sierra Nevada University is not listed as a separate current institution because it was merged into the University of Nevada, Reno.
