The following institutions are included from those official Massachusetts DHE lists.
Massachusetts has an unusually large independent higher-education sector. The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education maintains separate lists for independent institutions under its academic-program purview and independent institutions that are not currently under that purview.
These lists include traditional universities and colleges as well as specialized institutions in law, medicine, health professions, art, music, theology, technology and other fields.
For that reason, the number of institutions in this broad directory may be higher than lists that include only traditional four-year colleges and universities.
